Every trim size. One click. Print-ready.

5x8, 5.5x8.5, 6x9 — every common KDP and IngramSpark trim size as a built-in preset. Spine width auto-calculated. Bleed lines and barcode placement handled.

BookCovers ships every common KDP and IngramSpark trim size as a one-click preset — 5x8, 5.25x8, 5.5x8.5, 6x9, 7x10, 8.5x11, plus IngramSpark-specific 4.25x6.87. Spine width is auto-calculated from your page count and paper type (cream/white, 50-pound or 60-pound bond). Bleed lines (0.125" KDP, 0.25" IngramSpark) and barcode safe-zones are placed automatically. Print-ready PDFs are accepted by KDP and IngramSpark on first upload — no manual rework.

KDP trim sizes built in.

All Amazon KDP standard sizes: 5x8, 5.25x8, 5.5x8.5, 6x9, 6.14x9.21, 7x10, 7.5x9.25, 8x10, 8.25x6, 8.25x8.25, 8.5x8.5, 8.5x11. Pick one and the canvas resizes with the right bleed. No manual canvas math.

IngramSpark trim sizes too.

Including IngramSpark-only sizes like 4.25x6.87 (mass market paperback) and 6.69x9.61 (royal). The bleed switches to 0.25" automatically (IngramSpark requires more than KDP).

Spine width: auto from page count.

Enter your page count and paper type. BookCovers calculates exact spine width using KDP and IngramSpark's own formulas. Cream paper, 60# bond, 280 pages? Spine = 0.6300". The math is done; the canvas updates; you design.

Barcode placement: auto.

KDP and IngramSpark require a barcode in a specific safe-zone on the back. BookCovers generates a placeholder ISBN barcode and places it correctly. Replace with your real ISBN at export.

First-upload acceptance.

Every print-ready PDF is sized and bled per KDP and IngramSpark requirements. The default checker rejection rates we see are zero on both platforms when authors export with our presets.

Frequently asked questions

What's the right trim size for a paperback?

5x8 and 6x9 are the most common for fiction. 5.5x8.5 splits the difference. Non-fiction often uses 6x9 or 7x10. Children's picture books use 8.5x8.5 or 8.5x11. Pick the one that matches your category bestsellers on Amazon.

How is spine width calculated?

Spine = page count x paper-type factor. For KDP cream paper at 60# bond: 0.0025" per page. For white paper: 0.002252" per page. BookCovers uses the published KDP and IngramSpark formulas exactly — same numbers their checkers use.

Can I use a custom trim size?

Yes. Pick "Custom" and enter dimensions in inches or cm. Useful for art books, gift books, or non-standard formats. You'll need to confirm your printer's bleed requirements.

Does BookCovers handle hardcover trim sizes?

Yes — hardcover trim sizes for both KDP and IngramSpark are presets, with the right spine width formulas (hardcovers add wrap allowance and head/tail bands).

Will the PDF pass KDP's preview checker?

Yes. Bleed, trim, color profile (CMYK ready), and 300 DPI are set automatically. Authors using BookCovers presets report zero first-upload rejections.
